Mark Ruffalo has reflected on the time he accidentally popped Channing Tatum’s eardrum while filming ‘Foxcather’ in 2014. On a recent episode of ‘Hot Ones’, Ruffalo told host Sean Evans that Tatum “did ask me to slap the s*** out of him” while filming. “It was easy to do because he’d beaten the shit out of me so many times… like four months of wrestling, of learning how to wrestle together”, said Ruffalo on the show. ‘Foxcatcher’ explores the true story of John du Pont, who murdered US Olympic wrestler David Schultz in 1966. Ruffalo and Tatum play brothers Mark and David Schultz in the movie, and Ruffalo explained that his co-star had “30 pounds on me…” So, when it came time to “smack the s*** out of him, I was like, Came from Alabama” and popped the ‘Magic Mike’ star’s eardrum in the process. ‘Foxcather’ went on to receive five Oscar nominations, including Ruffalo for best-supporting actor.
