CULLMAN, Ala. – The Flying Fifty Hotel and Cullman Savings Bank hosted a completion event on Thursday night, May 2, at the new hotel.

Flying Fifty Owners Paul and Challie Knetter spoke and Cullman Savings Bank announced the tenants setting up shop at the location.

“Sipsey Wine Co. will be opening a wine tasting room,” Challie Knetter said. There will also be a coffee shop, Karma’s Coffee owned, named Jubilee — they are also doing something with wine, but I’m not sure what their plan is). It will be its second location; they will have a new name. The third tenant here is a dessert shop, Seven Daughters (Scoops) — already located in town, but they will also be adding a second location.”

Knetter said Roy Drinkard, the last living member of the Flying Fifty, the group of businessmen after whom the hotel is named, will be christening the building.

As Cullman’s first luxury boutique hotel, the Flying Fifty will open its doors to the public Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Knetter said the grand opening will be from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

“Tours will be available to the public throughout the day,” she said.

“We look forward to sharing The Flying Fifty Hotel with guests. Our goal is to honor those who strived to make Cullman a wonderful community and inspire others to carry on their legacy.”

The hotel will feature seven luxury hybrid self-check-in hotel suites, each having a theme focusing on the region.

“We made a commitment to use Alabama-made products throughout the hotel, including Redland Cotton towels, HomTex sheets, Blue Spring Living Water and more,” Knetter said.

The Flying Fifty is conveniently situated off Interstate 65 at 515 Fourth St. SW in Cullman.
