Former Arizona Wildcats basketball player Chance Comanche arrested by FBI in kidnapping, murder case


Former Arizona Wildcats player Chance Comanche is in FBI custody in connection with the death of a woman in Las Vegas.

According to 8NewsNow.com, the 27-year-old Comanche was arrested in Sacramento on a warrant for first-degree kidnapping issued by a Las Vegas court on Friday. That same day he was released by the Stockton Kings, the G League team Comanche had been playing for this season. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Sacramento.

23-year-old Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington, has was reported missing in the Las Vegas area on Dec. 6, the day after Comanche and the Kings were playing the G League Ignite in Henderson, Nev. Comanche is one of two people who have been arrested in relation to Rodgers’ disappearance, the other being 19-year-old Sakari Harnden.

(UPDATE: Rodgers’ remains were found in a desert area near Henderson, and both Comanche and Harden are now facing murder charges)

The 6-foot-10 Comanche played for Arizona from 2015-17, appearing in 60 games with two starts as a sophomore. He averaged six minutes per game as a freshman and 18.1 in his second year, scoring 6.3 per game with a career-high 14 against New Mexico and a double-double at Stanford.

Comanche declared for the 2017 NBA Draft but wasn’t selected. He began his professional career in Turkey before playing in the G League, making his NBA debut in April when he had seven points and three rebounds in 21 minutes for the Portland Trail Blazers.

This season Comanche was averaged 14 points and seven rebounds in 13 games for the Stockton Kings.
