Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized in New York following the overturning of his 2020 rape conviction by the New York Court of Appeals. According to his attorney, Arthur Aidala, Weinstein was admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for a series of tests. Reports indicate Weinstein’s health concerns include high blood pressure, heart issues and other ailments. The decision to transfer him to Bellevue came after he was held at the Walsh Regional Medical Unit in Mohawk Correctional Facility. The Court of Appeals ruled 4-3 that the judge in Weinstein’s trial exhibited prejudice by allowing testimony on allegations unrelated to the case. As a result of this decision, the court has ordered a new trial, prompting Weinstein’s continued incarceration. Despite the overturned conviction, Weinstein remains imprisoned for a separate rape conviction in Los Angeles.
