The blue carpet was abuzz for the opening night of Hell’s Kitchen, the new Broadway jukebox musical from Alicia Keys, featuring a soundtrack of the singer-songwriter’s hits throughout the years.
Joel Crump, who at just 15 has become Broadway’s favorite opening night reporter, worked the carpet for EBONY. He chatted it up with the show’s cast, including ultra-talented Broadway newcomers Maleah Joi Moon and Chris Lee, Broadway veterans Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon and Kecia Lewis, show director Michael Greif, book writer Kristoffer Diaz and Keys herself.
Crump even spoke with Keys’ 9-year-old son Genesis Dean to get his take on his mom’s musical. Other notable evening guests included Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway is now playing at the Shubert Theatre in New York City.
