Are you getting ready to head to the championship parade for the Boston Celtics on Friday, June 21?
The parade celebrating the Celtics’ 18th banner is kicking off Friday morning, and the route has been determined.
“The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Causeway Street and then follow Staniford Street to Cambridge Street to Tremont Street to Boylston Street, before ending near the Hynes Convention Center,” located at 900 Boylston St., the city said.
City officials say they are strongly suggesting that the public use the MBTA to get into the parade, noting increased service has been scheduled.
Officials noted on the city website that there will be “modified commuter rail schedules with additional train times before and after the parade.”
The Celtics closed out the Dallas Mavericks at the TD Garden in Boston earlier this week in game 5 of the NBA Championship.
What was the last Celtics parade route?
Last time the Celtics won the championship was in 2008 – representing the team’s 17th championship banner in its history. A rolling rally parade was held, with Celtics players traveling throughout the streets of Boston in duck boats, similar to what is scheduled for this Friday’s parade.

The 2008 parade started “at the TD Garden and (went) past City Hall and Boston Common before ending at Copley Square in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood,” according to the Brockton Enterprise.
