The Texans’ new uniforms include a nod to Houston’s football past.
“H-Town Blue,” which is similar to the light blue color used by the former Houston Oilers, is most prominent in the special “City Edition” uniform. It was one of four new uniforms released Tuesday by the Houston Texans.
The color rush uniform features a stylized “H” beveled in two shades of light blue on the helmet, in addition to light blue trim on the jersey. The “City Edition” uniform is otherwise a dark shade of blue with red numbers.

The first overhaul of the Texans’ uniforms since the team debuted in 2002 – six years after the Oilers relocated to Tennessee and eventually changed their name to the Titans – also include new regular home and away sets and a predominantly red alternate uniform dubbed by the team as “The Bold Bull.” It features a new take on the Texans’ logo on the helmet as well as dark blue numbers, in a shade the Texans’ call “Deep Steel Blue,” along with white trim.
Houston’s new home uniforms feature Deep Steel Blue jerseys and helmets along with white pants, white numbers and red trim, while the away set includes white jerseys, red trim and Deep Steel Blue pants, helmets and numbers. The home, away and red alternate uniforms each include “H-TOWN” in light blue on the inside of the jersey collar.
“Let’s create something for everyone,” Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair is quoted as saying on the team website, a reference to the objective of the new uniforms.
After multiple leaks and months of hype, the uniforms were revealed ahead of a much-anticipated 2024 season for the Texans, who are coming off an AFC South Division championship and first-round playoff win under rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans. Last year’s team also had the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in quarterback C.J. Stroud and Defensive Rookie of the Year in defensive lineman Will Anderson.
The Texans are hosting an invitation-only party celebrating the new uniforms on Tuesday night, when Grammy Award winner Lecrae and fellow Houston native Paul Wall will be among the musical acts. Meanwhile, fans can get their hands on the new gear starting Tuesday morning.
The Texans team shop at NRG Stadium is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The new uniforms also can be purchased online at shop.houstontexans.com and at a pop-up event scheduled for 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday on the Avenida Plaza outside the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The pop-up shop on the Avenida Plaza also will be open to fans from 1-10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Friday’s event coincides with the Texans’ NFL Draft watch party starting at 5 p.m.
Uniform breakdown
TEXAS INSPIRED
This is what the Texans are calling their new home uniforms, which feature a dark “Deep Steel Blue” color that matches the team’s original look unveiled in 2000. It’s the color of the jersey and helmet, which both include the Texans’ traditional bull head logo. A red version of the new stylized “H” logo is on the back of the helmet.
The jerseys feature white numbers along with red letters and trim. The pants are white with red and dark blue trim.
THE BULL
The Texans’ new away uniforms feature the same helmet as the home set while essentially flipping the colors of the jerseys and pants. The jerseys are white with red letters, red trim and dark blue letters. There also is a bullhorn design on the sleeves in the dark blue color.
CITY EDITION
The Texans also are calling this their “Color Rush Uniform” as it features the new H-Town Blue color, which is being introduced as an official accent color of the team. In addition to the light blue, stylized “H” being on the helmet and back of the jersey, the jersey also includes the Texans’ traditional bull head logo outlined in the light blue color. Above the numbers on the front of the jersey is “H-TOWN” in the same shade of light blue.
The “H” logo is the first new secondary logo introduced on a helmet in NFL history, according to the Texans. The helmet is otherwise a metallic-looking Deep Steel Blue color that almost appears black, and also features a small star in the team’s traditional “Battle Red” color.
THE BOLD BULL
This alternate uniform is heavy on the red – the prominent color of the helmet, jersey and pants. A new bullhorn-inspired logo appears on both the helmet and shoulders, in the deep steel blue color, which also is used for the jersey number. The jersey also features white letters and trim, and the helmet includes a red metallic chrome facemask.
