Sinclair Daniel is a relative newcomer to acting, setting herself up for her most significant role to date in The Other Black Girl. Daniel will be most recognized for her part in the popular Insidious franchise, where she played Chris Winslow in the 2023 entry in the series, Insidious: The Red Door. Daniel’s passion for the arts comes from her youth in New York City and her interest in the arts throughout her academia.

Ashleigh Murray as Hazel-May McCall
Ashleigh Murray is an actor and singer best known for her role as Josie McCoy, the lead singer of the Pussy-Cat Dolls, as they appeared on the CW show Riverdale. She would later reprise this role in the short-lived 2020 spin-off series Katy Keene. Murray had shown interest in music at a young age; while growing up in Oakland, she would find this passion through studying piano, jazz, and hip-hop. An early showcase of Murray’s talents came from her performance in the off-broadway musical Child of the Movement, based on the true story of Claudette Colvin.
In The Other Black Girl, Ashleigh Murray plays the role Hazel-May McCall, the newest employee at Wagener Books, who acts as an assistant to Maisy (Alyshia Ochse). Known to be ambitious, stylish, and boasting a confident persona, she strikes up an early friendship with Nella, before Nella comes to suspect there is more to Hazel.
Brittany Adebumola as Malaika
Best known for her role as Shanice in the American sci-fi drama, The 4400 actor Brittany Adebumola is a relative newcomer to the industry, landing her first role in the TV series Grand Army at 23. Adebumola’s acting career started with earning a bachelor’s degree in acting at Syracuse University.
Brittany Adebumola plays Malaika in The Other Black Girl, a proud and openly queer woman with a strong sense of self and goals in life. She Nella’s ‘ride or die’ in the series and acts as constant support throughout. The character was inspired by Malaika Adero, a powerhouse in the publishing world as an author, founder of Adero’s Literary Tribe, LLC, and executive editor for AUWA Books.
Hunter Parrish as Owen
Hunter Parish has seen notable success in TV and theater. Best known for playing the role of Silas Botwin in the Showtime series Weeds, Parish has also had recurring roles in popular TV series such as Good Girls Revolt, Quantico, and Ratched. In the world of theater, Parish has had stirring parts in Godspell and Spring Awakening.
Hunter Parrish plays the role of Owen, Nella’s boyfriend, in The Other Black Girl. Driven by traditional family values and working as a high school principal,Owen proves to be slightly aloof to the troubles of Nella in her profession. Still, his character offers emotional support for Nella, and both find comfort in their relationship.
Eric McCormack as Richard Wagner
Eric McCormack is one of the most recognizable faces on television thanks to his role as Will in Will and Grace, which saw him becoming one of the most beloved gay characters in TV history. Other TV roles showing McCormick’s diverse skill set include Perception, Travelers, and Slasher. The charming Canadian-born actor is a welcome addition to the cast bringing his years of experience into a complex character.
Eric McCormack plays the role of Richard Wagner in The Other Black Girl. The founder of Wagner Books is responsible for hiring Hazel to try to ‘convert’ Nella. Affluent and well-connected, Richard is a man who wields great power over those around him.
Bellamy Young as Vera Parini
Bellamy Young is an actor, singer, and producer best known for her role as Melody “Mellie” Grant in the drama series Scandal, which also won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. Bellamy Young has an impressive academic background, which brought her into the world of acting; initially attending Yale University, she majored in physics but studied English and theater, graduating in 1991. From there, she spent a summer during college at the British American Drama Academy in England, honing her craft.
In The Other Black Girl, Bellamy Young plays the role of Vera Parini, an experienced editor at Wagner Books. The character is seen as rather clueless regarding issues regarding race but is well-natured despite her meticulous approach to work that makes her expect nothing short of perfection.
Alyshia Ochse as Maisy
The Los Angeles-based Alyshia Ochse has established herself as a unique and powerful talent in the entertainment industry, including credits as producer, bestselling author, podcast host, entrepreneur, social media star, and screen actor. In film and TV, she is best known for her roles in True Detective, The Other Woman, and Freerayshawn.
Alyshia Ochse plays Maisey in The Other Black Girl, an editor at Wagner Books who hires Hazel as her assistant. She is known for her loud personality and her sharp fashion sense.
