I Tried The Ice Spice Munchkin Drink From Dunkin’—Here Are My Thoughts

This year’s VMAs brought plenty of viral moments: Taylor Swift dancing in the audience, Olivia Rodrigo bringing the house down (literally), and even a preview of Nicki Minaj’s much anticipated new album.

But one of the most exciting announcements from that night was the newest limited-edition beverage from Dunkin’. The coffee and donut chain has partnered with rapper and Best New Artist award winner Ice Spice. They announced the partnership in a commercial aired during the awards show. And, in true Dunkin’ fashion, Ben Affleck was there too.

If we’re being honest, this is one of the most ingenious brand collaborations we’ve ever seen. True to her name, the Dunkin’ drink is both iced and spiced (pumpkin spiced, that is). And Ice Spice’s fans are lovingly called munchkins after her 2022 hit “Munch (Feelin’ U).” So, naturally, you’ll find Dunkin’s iconic Munchkin donut holes in the drink too.

The Ice Spice Munchkins Drink starts with Dunkin’s frozen coffee and blends it with Pumpkin Munchkins before topping it with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I ran to my nearest Dunkin’ to try the Ice Spice Munchkins Drink for myself. In the spirit of transparency, I must admit that I primarily drink black coffee, which may or may not skew my opinions.

At first glance the drink looks more like a milkshake than a coffee-based beverage. You can see the chunks of pumpkin Munchkins swirling throughout the cup. And according to my receipt, there are two whole Munchkin donuts in a size small drink.

My first sip confirmed my initial suspicions: this tastes just like pumpkin spice milk. I didn’t notice any coffee notes whatsoever. I could definitely pick up on hints of pumpkin spice, but the overall flavor I got was milk.

And then there’s the chunks. This drink is loaded with texture—and not necessarily in a good way. In my drink, the chunks had a 50 percent chance of being chewy, sweet Munchkin pieces. The rest were crunchy pieces of ice.

I consulted with a friend who had also tried the Ice Spice Munchkins drink, and she didn’t have the same ice chunk situation that I did. So I might have to blame the texture of my drink on the barista at my local Dunkin’.

That being said, I still drank pretty much the whole thing. I could see myself enjoying this as a special afternoon treat or even as a dessert. It’s definitely a more exciting spin on the classic pumpkin spice latte.
