Indian River thespians find awards after ‘Lost Girl’ production | Arts and Entertainment


PHILADELPHIA — The Indian River Thespian Troupe’s recent production of “Lost Girl” by Kimberly Belflower received awards and recognition from the Theater Association of New York State and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Representatives from both groups attended the performances.

The production, staged Oct. 20 and 21, received two TANYS Roving Adjudicator Awards: Meritorious Achievement in Ensemble Performance to the cast and Meritorious Achievement in Performance Value While Producing Educational Theater.

The following received $1,000 Rising Star scholarships to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in New York City:

Chase Weston (sophomore), Dakota Marcy, (senior), Feliz Mejia, (junior) and Tyler Mayton, (junior).

Seniors Kiara Ruiz and Leo Perez received $10,000 Conservatory scholarships. Senior Kaydence Timerman received a $15,000 Conservatory scholarship.

The troupe’s production of “Lost Girl” was also selected to perform at the 2023 Theater Association of New York Festival, to be held Nov. 10 and 11 at 12 at Indian River Theatre of the Performing Arts. The celebrity emcee and workshop presenter will be Ted Keegan, who starred on Broadway and in the national tour of “Phantom of the Opera” as The Phantom. Keegan is a 1979 graduate of Watertown High School.

“Lost Girl” is a dramatic comedy by Kimberly Belflower described as “a coming-of-age exploration of first love and lasting loss” based on Wendy from “Peter Pan.”
