In his acceptance speech for the Dr Dre Global Impact Award at the Grammys, Jay-Z addressed the apparent “snub” toward his wife, Beyoncé. Despite her record-breaking 32 total awards, the rapper highlighted that she has never won Album of the Year. “Think about that. Most Grammys, never won Album of the Year, that doesn’t work. Some of you will go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed, some of you may get robbed, some of you don’t belong in the category” he said on stage. His comments come after Beyoncé’s acclaimed album Rennaisance was snubbed for Album Of The Year at the 2023 Grammy Awards. “When I get nervous, I tell the truth” Jay-Z joked to shocked laughter. Jay-Z urged the Recording Academy to “get it right” and emphasized the importance of persistence in achieving deserved accolades. He expressed gratitude to Dr Dre and the Black Music Collective while encouraging fellow artists to continue showing up.
