K-Pop firm SM Entertainment debuts its first virtual artist

Nævis has big plans beyond her K-Pop career. Webtoons, games, merchandise, brand collaborations and generative AI content according to the company she’s signed to, SM Entertainment.

Is there a risk of burnout? Well, nævis is a virtual artist, so possibly not.

She’s the first solo virtual artist to be launched by SM Entertainment, although she was first introduced in the fictional universe of their group aespa, who included a big avatar element when they launched in 2020.

nævis’s debut single ‘Done’ comes out today, with teasers ahead of its release (here and here) on SM’s YouTube channel.

The company is working with South Korean tech firm LG on some of the generative AI technology for the project.
