Kanye West is facing yet another lawsuit from a Donda Academy employee who has accused the rapper of discriminating against Black staff. Donda Academy was a Christian private school for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, located in Simi Valley, California. Per a complaint obtained by Page Six, Benjamin Deshon Provo, a former security guard of Donda, claims West fired him for not cutting his locs. “Specifically, Kanye frequently screamed at and berated Black employees, while in contrast, he never so much as raised his tone of voice toward white staff,” states the lawsuit. The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles, claims that Provo went through “emotional distress” due to West’s treatment of him. “Alright y’all, it is time for you to shave your heads. I am not messing around,” the ‘Heartless’ rapper allegedly told his staff. West’s associate allegedly told Provo, referring to his Muslim faith, “Kanye said, ‘tell the one with the dreads to shave his head or he is fired’.” According to The Root, the former security guard said that white employees were also paid $5 more than Black staff.
