Kanye West’s independent album, ‘Vultures 1,’ has received 169 million on-demand streams in the US in its opening week. In 2020, West posted “NEW RECORDING AND PUBLISHING DEAL GUIDELINES” on X, which called for an 80% split with the artist. Vultures 1, a full-length collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, does not have a partner label, just a distribution company (Label Engine). Although Label Engine states that their clients get 82.5% of revenue, artists like West would push for a significantly higher figure. Billboard has estimated that Vultures 1, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, made a little over $1 million in its opening week in the US. So, if West and Ty Dolla $ign are giving 5% for distribution, the pair have so far earned around $986,000.
