Kevin Bacon Celebrated at SCAD Savannah Film Festival


On Monday, October 23, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival spotlighted actor Kevin Bacon (Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment Award) with an “In Conversation” event.

The festival also celebrated director Todd Haynes (Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award) at a Savannah screening of May December, as well as Sarah Greenwood (Outstanding Achievement in Production Design Award) and Katie Spencer (Outstanding Achievement in Production Design Award) in a Q&A following a screening of Barbie.

Other highlight events included a Q&A with director and writer Gina Gammell, writer Franklin Sioux Bob, and producer Willi White immediately following the signature screening of War Pony.

On Sunday, October 22, Hoyte van Hoytema accepted Variety’s Creative Impact in Cinematography Award following the screening of Oppenheimer, Cord Jefferson accepted the Breakthrough Director Award at the screening of American Fiction, and Jack Huston accepted the Rising Star Director Award at the screening of Day of the Fight. Other highlight events included a Q&A with Ilker Çatak following the screening of The Teachers’ Lounge, and Q&A with Christian Friedel following the screening of The Zone of Interest.

Additional guests in attendance were actress Jane Levy, Augustus Meleo Bernstein (At the Gates), Liam LoPinto (The Old Young Crow), James Price (Poor Things), Mickey Rapkin (The Anne Frank Gift Shop), Christine Vachon (May December), Holly Waddington (Poor Things), and more.

Celebrating its 26th year, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and competitions provide SCAD students with opportunities as unique as the selected films. This year, the festival received more than 2,100 submissions for the competition series. During the festival, students from every academic discipline connect with leaders from the entertainment industry through master classes, coffee talks, lectures, workshops, and panel discussions.

Presented each year in Savannah, a premier film hub in the Southeast, the festival promotes quality movies produced by independent and studio filmmakers.
