According to People, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has officially closed investigations into Matthew Perry’s death. The ‘Friends’ star died on Oct. 28, 2023, after drowning in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home. The LAPD never suspected any foul play, however, they did launch a preliminary investigation due to Perry’s “celebrity status.” The autopsy report, which was released many months after his death, stated that “high levels of ketamine” were found in Perry’s blood. This is what likely caused the actor to fall “into unconsciousness” and drown. Coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects were also cited as factors. Perry was open about his struggles with addiction in later life and dedicated himself to helping others get sober by opening Perry House.
