Luke Bryan’s Tour Bus Gets Stuck Under Bridge

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

An equipment semi-truck that appears to belong to country singer Luke Bryan got stuck under a bridge in downtown Chicago on Saturday, August 24.

Bryan, 48, is set to perform at Wrigley Field on Sunday, August 25 on the Chicago stop of his Mind of a Country Boy Tour. But on Saturday morning, a bystander captured photos of the truck under a bridge at Irving and DuSable Lake Shore Drive, and later, posted the pictures on Reddit.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time one of Bryan’s trucks has caused trouble during a tour.

Back in 2017, one of his trucks struck an overpass on a Long Island parkway following a performance at Jones Beach Theatre. Per the Associated Press, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

At the time of writing, Bryan has not commented on the Chicago truck incident.

Earlier this year, Bryan made headlines for his performances, during which, he had fallen multiple times on stage. This sparked rumors that Bryan had been drinking before taking the stage, however, in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Bryan — who is 6’2″ — attributed the falls to his height.

“I’m up there trying to do Michael Jackson moves in too big of a frame, and when you add water to a stage and slick cowboy boots, you go down hard,” said Bryan. “It’s not alcohol, fans. People are assuming — you can’t just drink a bottle of vodka and go do a two-hour show.”

Bryan is set to return to American Idol for its upcoming 23rd season as a judge, alongside Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood, the latter of who will be replacing Idol judge Katy Perry. In an interview with Seattle radio host Gabe Mercer, Bryan suggested that Underwood “up her therapist” before the season goes into production.

“If she has a therapist, she’s probably going to have to double to deal with me and Lionel,” Bryan said.
