Matthew Perry Foundation Established In Late Actor’s Memory | Entertainment

Those close to actor Matthew Perry have launched The Matthew Perry Foundation to support those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.  According to TMZ, starting up such a foundation was in Perry’s future plans before he suddenly passed away on Oct. 28.  The goal of The Matthew Perry Foundation is to help addicts overcome substance abuse and raise awareness like the ‘Friends’ actor did during his life.  “When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned – I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned… Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone,” wrote Matthew Perry in his memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.’ Perry’s team stated that the foundation is “guided by his own words and experiences, and driven by his passion.” The actor was found dead in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home. He is understood to have drowned, however, an official death report is pending.
