The late Matthew Perry received an emotional tribute at the 75th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. The Television Academy honored Perry with a performance of the ‘Friends’ theme, ‘I’ll Be There For You’, performed by Charlie Puth. Puth also performed the theme song during a concert in Australia after the announcement of the actor’s death in October 2023. Perry died on Oct. 28, 2023, at 54 years old after being found dead in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that he died from “the acute effects of ketamine.” Perry was nominated for an Emmy five times, including for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2002 for his role as Chandler Bing.
