Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Host Star-Studded Art Event

While fans of Meghan Markle are still at the edge of their seats to know what her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, will become, the Duchess is continuing with her meaningful philanthropic events. In addition to a visit to a local Children’s Hospital earlier this week, Markle also co-hosted a star-studded art event with her husband Prince Harry in late March.

Most recently, the Sussexes shared some pictures of the event, which was done in partnership with The Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Art and Education. The event, held at the SoFi Stadium, showed The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection, described as “one of the most extensive holdings of African American art, artifacts, and documents.”

According to the couple’s statement, the exhibition “tells the powerful and poignant story of Black history, spanning centuries of resilience, creativity, and triumph.”

“The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection is one of the largest and most comprehensive private collections of African American art and historical artifacts in the world – containing rare and important primary source items, from 1595 to present day, and fine art by an array of seminal artists including Jacob Lawrence, Alma Thomas, Ernie Barnes, Bisa Butler and many more,” the statement continued.

In addition to a tour through the space, the event also included a conversation with Bernard, Shirley and Khalil, moderated by Christine Messineo, Director of Frieze LA and NY. “The group discussed the history and significance of Black art and how our communities can work together to preserve this vital piece of American history,” the statement continued.

In one of the pictures, for example, Markle and Harry are seen holding hands and sitting next to each other as they watch the conversation.

In addition to pictures of Markle and Harry at the event, the photos also show some surprise guests. In one picture, Role Play star David Oyelowo is seen talking to one of the curators Bernard Kinsey. In another picture, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles is seen smiling side-by-side with Markle’s mom Doria Ragland.

Looks like some Hollywood celebrities were proud to show their support for Markle, Harry, and, of course, African American art.
