With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning,” MTV said in a statement. Although the network did not reference any security threats, it added that the event would cause concern for everyone in attendance. The statement also confirmed that winning artists will still receive their awards. Earlier this month, France issued a high alert status after an alleged Islamic State operative killed a school teacher.
