If you say ‘hold the cheese’ when ordering a burger, move on.
This is strictly for cheeseburger lovers. And it’s a good idea for these people to download apps from their favorite fast-food places in time for National Cheeseburger Day, Sept. 18. By the way, the most popular cheese for a burger is American.
So, if you like cheese on your burger, you should make sure to check some of your favorite places for a special or discounted burger.
Among those participating with specials include McDonald’s, known for a tasty Double Cheeseburger, Mooyah, Burger King, Wendy’s and Applebee’s.

McDonald’s celebrates with Double Cheeseburger
McDonald’s is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day on Sept. 18 by offering a Double Cheeseburger for only $0.50 from participating locations nationwide. It has to be ordered exclusively through the McDonald’s App.
Great American Steakhouse
The Great American Steakhouse restaurants are offering a deal on its popular steakburgers. On Sept. 18, the El Paso franchise is offering $6 steakburgers and $7 with fries, excluding tip.
Wahlburgers 50% off for Cheeseburger Day
Wahlburgers will be celebrating with 50% off all burgers.
The closest Wahlburger’s is actually a food court shop at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero. And soon after it opened, we were among those that had to see what the fuss was all about.
Burger King offers $3 Double Cheeseburger Meal
Participating Burger King restaurants will offer a $3 double cheeseburger, fries and drink, or a $3 snack box with a cheeseburger, fries, nuggets and a drink.
Wendy’s says how about .01 cent burgers?
Participating Wendy’s restaurants will be offering its junior bacon cheeseburger for one cent. You just have to purchase something else and on the Wendy’s app. Go to the “Offers” section on the Wendy’s app Rewards Store or on the chain’s website.
The offer will be good from Sept. 18-22. Deal not valid for to-go orders.
Applebee’s offers a Burger Bundle
Applebee’s restaurants are offering a Burger Bundle for $8.99 on Sept. 18 only. You can choose from any one of their handcrafted burgers; a side of fries and a drink included. Participation may vary from location to location.
Panda Burgers
If you’re looking for a burger whose presentation is outside of the box, then Panda Burgers, at 10780 Pebble Hills Blvd., is the place to visit. The popular joint offers a variety of specialty burgers, from the Super Panda, ($15) a double cheeseburger with a quesadilla, to the Super GZoss, a cheeseburger topped with two carne asada tacos and a sprinkling of chopped cilantro and onion.
On Wednesdays, the Eastside shop offers $6.50 burgers and $2.50 Tecates; so check it out.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday; closed Monday.
Mooyah moves in with free cheeseburgers with purchase
On Sept. 18 only, Mooyah locations will be offering a free cheeseburger to all Rewards App members. Purchase fries and a drink and you’ll get to build your own cheeseburger.

How do you like your burger?
According to a survey by RTA Outdoor Living, 15% of those who responded feel the cheese in a cheeseburger should go under the burger. And what’s the best level of doneness? Forty percent of respondents said medium.
And more men, 43.1% than women, 36.8%, were into medium doneness while more women, 32.2% than men, 11.6% wanted well-done burgers.
Top five cheeses on a burger? American, 66%, Cheddar, 65%, Swiss, 43%, Pepper Jack, 40%, and Provolone 31%.
