Nigerians have figured out something we haven’t

Popular Ghanaian musician and producer, Camidoh, has called for greater investments in the creative arts industry in the country, particularly in music production.

In an interview with Melvin Da Enigma on Luv FM, he compared the Ghanaian and Nigerian music industries, stating that Nigerians tend to invest more in their sector.

He argued that Nigerian investors have figured out how to effectively monetise and recoup their investments, a strategy that Ghana has yet to master.

“I believe Nigerians have figured it out. They have figured out how to invest and monetise and ensure that they recoup properly.

“For example, the budget towards marketing, the budget towards a music video. You will see that a Nigerian music video budget looks like our movie budget.

“These people really understand, because why would this person be putting so much money into just a music video? It’s because we haven’t figured out what they figured out. They putting such amounts of money is not foolishness, there is something they’ve seen,” he said.

Camidoh further noted that while Ghana once had substantial investments in its music industry, many investors became disappointed with the returns.

“Ghana used to have a lot of investment. But a lot of people expressed disappointment in the returns on investments. So, that had become the problem.

“But maybe we haven’t figured it out. We are lacking when it comes to our investments,” he explained.
