BOGOTÁ, Colombia (CelebrityAccess) — The Live Nation-owned Latin concert promoter Ocesa announced plans for the creation of The Distrito Verde (Green District), a new 40,000-capacity entertainment in Colombia’s capital Bogotá.
The event space will feature capacity for 40,000 fans and will occupy a 24 hectare space in Bogotá’s Ciudad Salitre, a mixed-use area in one of the city’s most high-profile districts.
According to OCESA, the new complex will host events such as food fairs and art exhibitions, along with sports and live concerts with a focus on environmentalism.
“Distrito Verde is the result of the vision of the growth of the live entertainment industry in Colombia, enabling a multipurpose space that combines the environmental recovery of a piece of land with the versatility and adaptation of that space to host concerts, exhibitions and gastronomic festivals, among others ,” Luz Ángela Castro, CEO of Ocesa Colombia, told La Republica.
For concerts, the Distrito Verde will include a multipurpose event area with modular seating, and a large pavilio with a capacity of 5,800 fans for exhibitions, cultural or corporate events. Other areas of the Distrito Verde include a ‘green area’ intended to house culinary events, open-air museums and festivals.
According to OCESA, the space will also create a positive environmental impact on the area, improving 180,000 square meters of green space along with drainage to regulate water and reduce flooding.
“The Green District offers an innovative and versatile cultural offering, combining open-air green spaces with covered areas. It adapts to various event formats, allowing more than 40,000 people to enjoy culture. It will activate a green space that has been unused for 50 years in a central area of the city, protecting and recovering environmental assets and integrating them into a vibrant space full of social, cultural and recreational opportunities,” Castro told La Republica.
