Olivia Rodrigo says she was ‘terrified’ first night of tour – Celebrity News – Entertainment

Olivia Rodrigo revealed she battled intense pre-show anxiety before launching her GUTS World Tour, despite it being her second major concert series.

Speaking at the New York premiere of Netflix‘s Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour documentary on Friday, the 21-year-old Grammy winner, who gave out plan B at a show earlier this year, shared her backstage experience from the tour’s February opening night at Palm Springs’ Acrisure Arena.

“I should have rehearsed more… I needed three more weeks to rehearse this thing,” Rodrigo told reporters, describing her pre-show fears.

The ‘Get him back!’ singer acknowledged that early performances were particularly challenging, noting her hands would shake while playing piano.

The documentary, directed by James Merryman and set to stream on Netflix starting October 29, captures both the vulnerability and triumph of Rodrigo’s global tour experience.

Following her Palm Springs debut, Rodrigo celebrated what she called “a beautiful moment” with family and friends backstage.

“We popped champagne. I’ll remember it forever,” she said.

The GUTS World Tour, which began February 23 with Chappell Roan as an opening act, has featured various supporting artists including The Breeders, Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress, and Benee.

Rodrigo recently completed her Australian leg of the tour.

The singer’s international journey continues in March with performances scheduled across South America, including stops in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.

Two rescheduled shows in Manchester, England, are set for June 30 and July 1, 2025, following earlier postponement due to technical issues.

“For those of you who didn’t get a chance to rock out in-person, now you can have the best seats in the house,” Rodrigo said about the upcoming documentary release.
