The winners will be revealed at the Academy Awards ceremony on March 10, 2024
Recognizing movies released in 2023, the 96th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on March 10, 2024.
Since 1929, the Oscars have honored excellence in cinematic achievements in various sectors of the film and entertainment industry. The 2024 edition will award winners in 23 categories.
The nominees in the category for best original score are:
Laura Karpman, American Fiction
John Williams, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny
Robbie Robertson, Killers Of The Flower Moon
Ludwig Göransson, Oppenheimer
Jerskin Fendrix, Poor Things
Karpman’s score for American Fiction joins her multiple projects in 2023, including scores for six film and TV projects, including, Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed, What If?, Ms. Marvel, 61st Street, and The Marvels.
Having written five scores for Hollywood’s Indiana Jones franchise, this is Williams’ 54th Oscar nomination. He was also nominated last year for his score to Spielberg’s The Fabelmans.
The late Robbie Robertson, who frequently collaborated with Martin Scorsese, has earned a posthumous and first Academy Award nomination for his score to Killers of the Flower Moon.
Göransson, a Swedish composer and conductor, is nominated for his music to Christopher Nolan’s epic Oppenheimer, which recently won him a Golden Globe for best score.
A 28-year-old English musician, Fendrix is recognized for his score for Poor Things, in which he favored instruments that rely on human breath to reflect the films’ themes of death and reanimation.
