However, 2023 is the 57-year-old actor’s year, and he told PEOPLE, “I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life.” “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive”, said Dempsey. Dempsey established the Dempsey Center in honor of his mother, who died from cancer. He revealed that he was “completely shocked” when he heard the news and thought, “This is a joke right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!” Dempsey has three kids with his wife: Talula (21) and twins Sullivan and Darby (16), and he feels they’re “just going to make fun of me.”
