Redlands library’s ‘Southern California in Film’ series offers screening of ‘La La Land’ – Redlands Daily Facts


The A.K. Smiley Public Library’s 2023 “Southern California in Film” series will conclude with a screening of “La La Land” 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.

The free screening will be at the Contemporary Club, 173 S. Eureka St., Redlands, and the program will include a preview of the library’s 2024 “Southern California in Film” series, according to a news release.

The 2016 film “La La Land,” rated PG-13, follows a jazz musician and actress as they struggle to find success in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Shot throughout Los Angeles, the film features the Griffith Observatory, Angels Flight Railway, Watts Tower and Grand Central Market, among many recognizable locales, according to the news release.

The film received 303 nominations and won 125 awards from film organizations across the Unites States, as well as in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
