Roanoke County native announced as LA Lakers coach


ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Cave Spring graduate has been announced as the new head coach of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN.

JJ Redick agreed to a four-year deal, according to the sports network.

Redick has most recently been an NBA analyst and played in the NBA for 15 years with several teams. He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, where he broke the record for the most career points in the A.C.C.

Redick was a standout, leading the Cave Spring Knights to the 2002 state championship, scoring 40 points in the final game.
