Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are reuniting for a new top secret project.
The filmmaker and actor previously collaborated on Coogler’s 2013 directorial debut ‘Fruitvale Station’, 2015 ‘Rocky’ spin-off ‘Creed’ and the ‘Black Panther’ MCU movies, and now they are set to work together again on what is believed to be Coogler’s next film.
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Coogler, 37, has a new script ready to go – the first he has penned under the banner of his new production company, Proximity Media – that is based on an original idea, and Coogler has turned to Jordan, 36, to be his leading man once again.
The project is being described as a genre feature, meaning that it will could be a horror, thriller or science-fiction story, and it is rumoured to have a period element.
Last week, studio executives and buyers went to the Beverly Hills offices of WME, the agency that represents Coogler and Jordan, to view the script and be informed about plot details by Coogler.
Meanwhile, Jordan is set to continue his story as heavyweight champion boxer Adonis Creed – the son of Apollo Creed, Rocky’s most famous opponent – in a fourth ‘Creed’ film.
The Hollywood star made his directorial debut on 2023’s ‘Creed III’, which was the first film in the ‘Rocky’ series not to feature creator Sylvester Stallone as heroic fighter Rocky Balboa.
