SCAD Atlanta opens casting office


SCAD said it has placed around 700 students and alumni in roles.

ATLANTA — Savannah College of Art and Design has opened a casting office on its Atlanta campus, helping students score career-launching roles in film and television. 

The new location in Atlanta, which joins an existing casting office on the Savannah campus, are the only university-run facilities in the nation, according to SCAD.

SCAD said in the past year it has placed around 700 students and alumni in roles, according to reporting from the Atlanta Business Chronicle The university works with major entertainment companies such as Netflix, Disney, Apple+, NBC, Amazon Prime and Hulu. 

The casting office opens as Georgia continues to be a top U.S. filming location, beginning to rival both Los Angeles and New York. In fiscal year 2023, film and television productions spent $4.1 billion in Georgia.
