A source close to the family has shared details on the reasoning behind Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter dropping her father’s last name. On her 18th birthday, Shiloh submitted a petition at an LA Court to legally remove “Pitt” from her name and be known as “Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.” A source close to the situation told E! News that Jolie and Pitt’s first biological child hired her own lawyer to handle this case. Shiloh isn’t the first of the estranged couple’s children to drop Pitt’s name, as last year her sister Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie.” Additionally, Jolie and Pitt’s youngest daughter, Vivienne, is credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway musical ‘The Outsiders.’ Jolie and Pitt have six children together: Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (17) and twins Vivienne and Knox (15). After their divorce, they had a custody battle over their kids while also engaging in a separate dispute over their French winery, Château Miraval. Jolie also accused her ex-husband of turning “his physical abuse on the children” as well as her on a private flight in 2016.
