Is that you, Taylor? Swifties might need a double-take at the latest homage to their beloved icon. The Hamburg Panoptikum just unveiled a wax figure of Taylor Swift, and let’s just say, the fans are having a field day.
Dressed in a shimmering blue sequined jumpsuit with shiny silver high boots, the figure strikes the 34-year-old pop sensation’s signature heart-hand pose — a feat that Berlin artist Lisa Büscher describes as technically challenging. “Coordinating them to meet nicely in front was not easy,” Büscher shared about the pose. With Swift standing among stars like Adele and even Donald Trump, the new addition aims to capture the sparkle of the Grammy winner’s persona.
The unveiling was timed perfectly with Swift’s lucky number 13, making Tuesday, August 13 a special day at Germany’s oldest wax museum. “With almost 300 million followers on Instagram and the crazy hype she causes in every city, Taylor Swift definitely deserves a place in our Panoptikum,” noted managing director Susanne Faerber.
However, Swifties online seem less impressed. The Daily Mail‘s X post on the unveiling has already sparked a flurry of comments.
“Unappealing. So wrong,” scoffed one viewer. “They made her look older…” observed another, while a third quipped, “Masterpiece. 🤣 They’ve accurately captured the likeness of the Soros puppet.”
Truth be told, when it comes to capturing the essence of the beloved music legend in wax, it seems hard to please the Swifties. In 2022, a fan account posted a collage of Swift’s wax figures through the years and the reactions ranged from amused to horrified.
“The more I look at this the scarier it gets,” one person said.
“THEY DID MY GIRL DIRTY WTF IS THIS,” shouted another.
“It’s giving Lily Rabe possessed a doll in an episode of American Horror Story,” pointed out a third.
With reactions like these, it’s clear: when it comes to the “Cruel Summer” singer, even wax figures can stir up a storm.
