Taylor Lautner jokingly suggested an alternate ending to the beloved Twilight Saga in a new video posted to TikTok on Sunday (November 17), making it very obvious exactly whose side he was on.
In the video, the star, who played werewolf Jacob Black in the world-renowned film series, pointed the camera at a television playing the scene where Bella Swan marries Edward Cullen (in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1), anonymously quipping:
“Honestly screw Edward. Bella should have ended up with Jacob.”
Then, per the trend, the camera “accidentally” switched around to show Lautner’s extremely surprised face as he offered a not-so-subtle “oh no no no” upon revealing his true identity.
Fans immediately sounded off in the comment section in support of #teamjacob quipping, “in the clerb, we all team Jacob,” and “the fact that we all collectively thought ‘me too’ without knowing Taylor posted this is hilarious.”
One follower assured that while Lautner did not win the girl in the series, he did win this trend. Another viewer gave the standout’s wife (also named Taylor Lautner) the credit for the idea, to which Lautner confirmed.
This is not the first time the Run The Tide actor has commented on the on-screen rivalry between his and Robert Pattinson‘s characters in The Twilight Saga, revealing in a 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, that attempting to have a friendship off-screen was “awkward” and “difficult” at times.
“I think it was awkward at times for the two of us to be standing together on a balcony and having 10,000 girls booing Rob but then cheering for me but then this half, you know, booing me and cheering [for Rob], but then us having to have some sort of friendship. It was difficult.”
