Taylor Swift made a hotly anticipated appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday, October 7 — where she reunited with a controversial friend of hers: Brittany Mahomes.
Swift, 34, arrived at Arrowhead Stadium wearing a plaid dress and knee-high boots, ready to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. This marked her first appearance at a Chiefs game in over two weeks, with her absence briefly prompting rumors of a breakup, especially given that she was absent from Kelce’s 35th birthday celebration. Swift and Kelce clearly dispelled the gossip once Swift arrived at the stadium.
As she made her way into the venue, Swift was spotted hugging Brittany, the wife of the team’s star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In a fan-recorded video taken from the game, Brittany, 28, ran up to Swift, giving her a big hug as Swift returned the embrace.
Brittany — who is currently expecting her third child with Patrick — was seen wearing a red leather suit, appropriate attire to root on the Chiefs (and also reminiscent of Britney Spears in her 2000 video for “Oops I Did It Again.”)
This moment between Brittany and Swift is the latest cutesy encounter between the pals following their embrace at the U.S. Open in September. Swift and Brittany’s outing at the iconic tennis event was a double date with their partners that immediately followed rumors that the Grammy winner and Kansas City Current co-owner were no longer friends due to their political differences. As fans know, Swift endorsed U.S. presidential candidate and Democratic contender Kamala Harris back in September. Though Brittany herself has not publicly endorsed a candidate, she came under fire back in September after liking posts outlining Trump’s proposed policies back in August.
Brittany would later take to her Instagram Stories to fight the backlash against her apparent support of Trump and J.D. Vance, calling out “haters” with “deeply-rooted issues.”
After Brittany’s social media activity — and Swift’s endorsement of Harris — Trump thanked Brittany for her support and said that he likes her better than Swift. The former president even went as far as posting “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on his Truth Social page.
Though Swift and Brittany’s differing politics were rumored to have caused a rift between them — especially as they were seated far from each other during the Chiefs’ season opener on Thursday, September 5 — it looks like their friendship is still going strong.
While the power couple that is Tayvis is certainly busy over the next few months — as Swift gears up for the final leg of her Eras Tour and Kelce dominates the football field to make multiple TV appearances — it appears that the Grammy winner’s presence at Monday’s game brought some good luck. The Chiefs won the game in a 26-13 victory against the New Orleans Saints.
