Taylor Swift celebrated a major milestone for one of her most beloved albums by sharing a special performance dedicated to the project she will “always” be proud of.
During her Eras Tour stop in New Orleans on Sunday (October 27), the “Fortnight” singer marked the 10th anniversary of her Grammy-winning album 1989 by sharing her love for both the record and have Swifities have continued to embrace it, per People. The original 1989 record came out October 27, 2014, but she has since re-recorded it and dropped 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the album’s ninth anniversary in 2023.
“1989 is 10 years old today — a decade of the 1989 album,” she said before thanking fans for the reaction to the pop project. “God, I appreciate you so much for what you turned that album into. I’m always going to be so proud of it.”
To honor the anniversary, she told the crowd, “I think I should go ahead and play some 1989 songs,” and launched into a stellar mashup of “Clean” and “How You Get the Girl” during the acoustic surprise songs segment of the show.
