Taylor Swift changed the music industry…she changed the touring industry…and now she’s coming for the movies.
She put her previous documentaries and concert films on streaming services in the past, but as we know Taylor is bringing her new doc to Theaters this October 13th and it is already breaking records for movie theaters!!!
It’s expected to top $100 million during its opening weekend.
SIDE NOTE: Taylor is a member of SAG-AFTRA but she was granted a waiver by the unions because the Eras Tour filmed concert is unscripted and has no actors or writers associated with it.
So far, “The Exorcist: Believer,” “Dumb Money,” a Meg Ryan rom-com, and a Christian movie have all moved their release dates after finding out Taylor was releasing her film on October 13th.
But the truly revolutionary element of this is…she went to directly to AMC and avoided movie studios entirely. This completely shakes up the traditional structure of how movies are released. So when this movie makes $400 million (which is what experts are predicting)…that money is split between Taylor, AMC and the individual theatres. The studios are missing out on millions.
