Ted Nugent Dismisses Taylor Swift Music as ‘Poppy Nonsense’

As Taylor Swift wraps up her record-breaking year, not everyone seems to be on board with her massive success.

Singer Ted Nugent gave his take on the “Cruel Summer” singer’s place in the music industry while appearing on The Joe Pags Show podcast.

“So I’m afraid to say in this world that’s gone down the toilet in all aspects, I’m afraid the success of Taylor Swift — and again, God bless her work ethic, God bless her musical dreams — but that’s cartoon music,” he shared.

He goes on to say that Swift’s genre being “the most popular stuff in the world” is an “indictment to the music industry and music fans.”

If Swifties don’t agree with Nugent’s thoughts on the 12-time Grammy-winner’s music, he is correct about her global popularity. Just this year, Swift was named Time’s Person of the Year, racked up two more No. 1 albums and is on track to have the highest-grossing world tour of all time.

“I mean, it doesn’t have any piss and vinegar. There’s no fire, there’s no sensuality in that. It’s all poppy nonsense as far as I’m concerned,” he continued to say about Swift’s discography.

Nugent, an avid supporter of Donald Trump, is no stranger to making controversial comments. Earlier this year, he defended singer Alice Cooper after making transphobic remarks. Nugent praised Cooper for showing “some courage” while sharing what he believes to be “the self-evident truth.”

“Thank God I’m still around,” the 75-year-old concluded.
