The casting director of ‘The Notebook’, Matthew Barry, wants Britney Spears to get back to acting, as he believes she is a fantastic actor. Following the release of Spears’ new memoir, ‘The Woman in Me’, Barry released her 2002 audition tape for ‘The Notebook’. In the video, Spears is seen evocatively delivering her lines and crying on cue, and the casting director told Billboard she was “incredible”. In her memoir, Spears revealed that it was between her and Rachel McAdams to play the part of Allie Hamilton alongside Ryan Gosling. “She wanted to get it right. We really worked with her to guide her since we’ve worked with director Nick Cassavetes”, said Barry. He also mentioned that the pop icon was not only “phenomenal” but also “so determined.” However, the casting director believes that Spears felt like “she was not as trained as an actress.”
