The UPside – Jim LaJoie

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Upper Michigan is Someplace Special because of the hard work of individuals and organizations that make a difference in our community.  Each Monday, TV6 shines the light on these people and organizations with our UPside report.  This week’s UPsider is Jim LaJoie.

Jim Lajoie has served as the executive director of the Superior Health Foundation since it began in 2012 and held the same title for the Marquette General Foundation. Jim just recently retired from his role with the Superior Health Foundation, but he’s not done being a part of the community.

“You know, and I will continue to be active and involved in the community as I kind of reposition myself going forward, taking a little time off. But when I resurface, there’s going to be some part time work and some consulting work that I’m going to do because I want to be able to give back in that type of capacity. I’ve learned a lot over the years, and I’d like to be able to share some of that knowledge that I have with other organizations to help them thrive,” LaJoie said.

In addition to his work for the foundation, Jim has been a member of Marquette West Rotary for 12 years, serving as the entertainment chair for Harborfest for nine years. He has sat on the board for the Marquette Regional History Museum, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Marquette and Alger counties, even serving as president for two years, as well as sitting on the Negaunee Irontown Association Board.

Between the philanthropy work at the Superior Health Foundation, and all his volunteer time with community organizations, Jim LaJoie is very deserving to be this week’s UPsider, for making a difference to the people of Upper Michigan.

TV6 is looking for nominees in your community, to be featured in our weekly upside report.  If you would like to nominate an individual or group to be featured on the upside, email your nominee information to theupside@wluctv6.com
