Black’ish alum Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the 2024 New Museum Gala at Cipriani South Street New York City, which honored artists George Condo and Mickalene Thomas.
Artist Deon Jones performed at the benefit dinner, which raised $2.1 million. The museum is currently undergoing a major expansion and is scheduled to reopen in 2025.
Celebrating Cowboy Carter
Shaboozey, Randy & Compton Cowboys attended an exclusive Beyoncé playback party hosted by Desert 5 in Los Angeles to commemorate the release of her debut Country music album, Cowboy Carter. Guests line danced and joined in singing along throughout the night. Shaboozey is featured in Beyoncé’s new song “SPAGHETTI.” Randy & the Compton Cowboys took turns on the mic during the evening’s live performances.
Black Women Executives Honored in Hollywood
Alana Mayo, head of Orion Pictures; Tara Duncan, President of Disney’s Onyx Collective; Nicole Brown, President of TriStar Pictures; Amber Rasberry, Senior Film Executive, Development, Production, & Acquisition, Amazon MGM Studios and Niija Kuykendall, Netflix’s Vice President of Film were recently honored for their monumental contributions across Hollywood. The four trailblazers were toasted during a dinner that highlighted their many accolades and the ways in which they represent on behalf of women everywhere. They participated in a lively roundtable discussion with topics that ranged from experiences from their respective journies and their hopes for what their legacies will leave behind.
“You see the box-office success. You see the streaming success when you have diversity, and you have it in front and behind the camera, when you have it with executives. And it’s not just looking at diversity and inclusion as a temporary measure, but really, really engrained in the fabric of a company and the business model, not just a fix-it for now,” Raspberry shared when asked about diversity in Hollywood as it currently stands.
