‘There Is No HR to Report This Kind of Behavior To’

A response from August Alsina about the current status of his relationship with the music industry at large resulted in a breakdown of what he argues is a “diabolical” system.

As you may have seen over the weekend, a fan joked that they “had a bone to pick” with the former Def Jam artist due to him “not doing music anymore.” Alsina later responded in detail, urging fans to take a look at his other, non-music endeavors while underscoring the issues he says he’s faced as a recording artist.

“One day it’ll be revealed the diabolical level of doxxing, railroading, stonewalling, roadblocking, gaslighting, and betrayal that goes on behind the scenes within this industry,” Alsina wrote on X on Sunday, pointing to an “abuse of power” he says is intended to maintain “facades.”

From there, Alsina described certain tactics as amounting to “an invisible boogeyman” by design. He also highlighted what he believes is an inherently difficult accountability process, namely due to the nature of the industry itself.

“In this industry there is no HR to report this kind of behavior to,” he said, in part. “But God has never slept on my prayers.”

The demand for new music is an interesting one here, as Alsina is only just over a year removed from his most recent full-length studio release, 2023’s Myself. Two years prior, Alsina hinted strongly at a full-fledged retirement from the music space, saying at the time that he considered then-imminent new music a “victory lap” for his larger career.

More recently, Alsina has been promoting his genderless skincare brand, Encina Wellness .
