Tia Mowry wants to clear the air about her relationship with twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley.
The Sister, Sister alum, 46, clarified that she meant she wishes she and Tamera, 46, were still physically close after statements she made in a trailer for her We TV docuseries garnered attention online. In a clip from Tia Mowry: My Next Act, Tia said of twin Tamera, 46, “[I wish] I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.” That particular sentence had fans worried there had been a rift between the twins.
However, Tia told Us Weekly on Tuesday, September 24, that the pair still had a close relationship, but distance — Tia lives in Los Angeles and Tamera lives in Napa — as well as changing responsibilities left them seeing each other less often.
“I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” The Game actress explained. She noted that as people move and have children, they simply become less accessible than they used to be, adding, “It’s called life.”
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much,” Tia told Us, noting she wasn’t surprised the clip was misunderstood online. “When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context, and it is what it is,” she shared.
The twins’ father Timothy Mowry, 67, and one of their brothers, Smart Guy alum Tahj Mowry, 38, also live in Los Angeles. Their other brother, music producer Tavior Mowry, 31, lives in Tennessee with his family.
Tia’s docuseries shows the mom of two as she starts a new chapter in her life, following her divorce from Cory Hardict, to whom she was married from 2008 until 2023. The exes share son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6.
Her sister Tamera lives in Napa Valley with her husband Adam Housely — to whom she’s been married since 2011 — and their children Aden, 11, and Ariah, 9.
Tia Mowry: My Next Act debuts on We TV on Friday, October 4.
