Toby Keith passed away this past February, and ever since, his fans have been reeling from the loss. The country legend’s 35 Biggest Hits compilation has continued to chart in the months following his death, as millions of Americans continue to listen to the tunes that made him a superstar during his lifetime. This frame, that set reaches a notable milestone–one that Keith never got to see.
35 Biggest Hits has now lived on the Billboard 200 for three years. As of this turn, the compilation of the country musician’s biggest and most beloved tunes has spent 156 weeks somewhere on the roster of the most-consumed albums in the U.S.
This week, 35 Biggest Hits even manages to climb on the Billboard 200…though only slightly. The title lifts one rung to No. 71 this time around.
In the past tracking week, 35 Biggest Hits moved another 13,000 equivalent units. According to Luminate, that number is actually down just over 1% from the period before. Despite the loss in total consumption, the title is still able to climb.
35 Biggest Hits marks Keith’s first project to rack up 156 stays on the all-genre ranking of the most popular albums in the country. Two other releases from the genre favorite, Greatest Hits 2 and Unleashed, have barely pushed past triple-digit turns on the tally. They have earned 106 and 104 stays on the list, respectively.
In the days following his death, which came as a shock to millions, 35 Biggest Hits became massively popular once again. The compilation shot to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time, making Keith one of a relatively small number of acts to top the tally posthumously.
In the months since then, 35 Biggest Hits has remained a go-to for people wanting to hear Keith’s music again. All the streams and sales of individual smashes from his catalog fuel the ongoing success of this one title, so there’s a good chance that it will continue to chart for weeks, months, and possibly even years to come.
