Two late night earthquakes reported in Georgia


GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said two earthquakes were reported in Georgia late Thursday night and into Friday morning.

According to the USGS, the first earthquake hit at 10:15 p.m. It had a magnitude of 2.5 and a depth of 4 kilometers.

The second quake hit around 12:30 a.m. It had a magnitude of 2.1 and a depth of 8 kilometers.

The agency said the first earthquake was 2.4 miles west northwest of Buford, Georgia. The second one was 2.7 miles northwest away.

Buford is about an hour to an hour and a half to Franklin and Elbert Counties.
