England’s EURO 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland will take place in Düsseldorf at a stadium in which the Three Lions have never played before.
The Düsseldorf Arena has played host to four EURO 2024 matches prior to the last-eight clash, however, with France’s win over Austria, Ukraine’s victory against Slovakia and Spain’s triumph over Albania taking place there, as well as Les Bleus’ last-16 tie with Belgium.
First opened in September 2024, the stadium – also known as the Merkur Spiel-arena – is the home ground of 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf, who were in the top tier of German football between 2018-20.
The quarter-final will be the last game of the tournament to be played at the Düsseldorf Arena, which is situated on the Rhine a few miles outside Düsseldorf city centre.
