Variety, ‘Entertainment Tonight’ Team for Golden Globe Awards Pre-Show


Variety and “Entertainment Tonight” have partnered to produce the official digital red carpet pre-show for the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air Jan. 7 live on CBS and Paramount+

The digital pre-show will air live starting at 3:30 p.m. PT on Variety‘s digital and social platforms, ETOnline.com, the Golden Globe Awards website and on the digital platforms of 20 other publications owned by Penske Media Corp., parent company of Variety, which also owns the Globes in a joint venture with Eldridge.

The Globes’ official pre-show will be hosted by Variety‘s Marc Malkin and Angelique Jackson and “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Rachel Smith. The trio will interview A-listers as stars head into the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the ceremony, and it will feature exclusive footage of stars arriving at the venue.

“Entertainment Tonight” is the No. 1 entertainment news show on TV with an average of 4 million viewers a night and eight Emmy wins. On digital, ‘ET’ is No. 1 for entertainment news video on Facebook and YouTube. ETonline.com averages 26 million monthly unique visits while ‘ET’’s social platforms generate 1.2 billion monthly impressions and more than 352 million video views across all platforms.

Comedian Jo Koy is set to host the Globes, marking his debut as the host of a major kudocast.

Malkin, who is Variety‘s senior events and culture editor, is well known to Hollywood insiders for his many years of red carpet duty, including his work on the 2023 Globes’ official digital pre-show. Jackson, senior entertainment writer, is an award-winning writer who hosts many carpets and other events for Variety. Smith has been with “ET” since 2019 and was named host of its weekend edition last year.
