Donald Trump’s children took their customary spot alongside their father at the Republican National Convention as he accepted the party’s nomination for president once again on Thursday night.
As the balloons fell from the Fiserv Forum ceiling in a celebratory moment for the family, Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka and Tiffany were all there on stage. Trump’s wife, Melania, and grandchildren were also there.
But not all of the Trump’s children came to Milwaukee for the convention.
Barron Trump was missing.
The youngest son of Donald Trump and Melania was absent from the joyous moment.
Why wasn’t Barron Trump at the RNC?
Barron was asked to attend the convention as a Florida delegate, but Melania issued a statement in May saying he wouldn’t attend due to prior commitments, according to USA Today.
“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” the statement said.
Trump said in an interview with Telemundo 51 Miami in May about Barron Trump: “He’s pretty young, I will say.” He added that if his son wanted to be a delegate “I’m all for it.”
How old is Barron Trump?
Barron Trump is 18 years old.
Barron Trump graduated from high school May 17 in Florida. At the time, Donald Trump was in the midst of his hush money trial, a case in which he was convicted of 34 felonies for falsifying business records ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
But at Trump’s request the court proceedings were paused on the day of Barron’s commencement ceremony so he could attend.
