What Taylor Swift Actually Smells Like, According to The Singer Herself

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Taylor Swift turned heads at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11. During the event, Swift, 34, took home several awards, danced to the musical performances, and posed and took photos with fans and fellow artists — some of whom caught onto a fabulous scent.

As Swifties know, the “Fortnight” hitmaker emphasizes attention to detail — in her music, in her visuals, and her outfits. While Swift was posing with a group of stunning drag performers, one noticed that she was wearing a very luxurious fragrance.

In a clip taken from the ceremony, Swift is seen talking with drag queen Xunami Muse — of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame. While viewers can’t tell exactly what either of the two are saying to each other, it looks like Muse may have been asking what fragrance Swift was wearing, judging by the mouth movements. It also looks like Swift mouthed “Tom Ford.”

Shortly after the awards, Muse took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain exactly how the conversation went down.

“She smelled so good and confirmed it was Tom Ford,” said Muse.

During the duration of the broadcast, Swifties were able to focus on the pop star through a special “Taylor’s Version” camera that livestreamed through MTV’s website. Hardcore Swift fans didn’t miss a beat, as she danced the night away — and at one point, nearly fell.

Swift also won the coveted Video of the Year award for her Post Malone collaboration, “Fortnight,” marking her third year in a row winning the honor.

She ended the night having earned 30 VMAs over the course of her nearly two-decade career, and became the solo artist with the most VMAs to her name.

Moral of the story: you smell good, you feel good. Then, you win good.
