When Hollywood met Bollywood at Diwali Ball at New York’s Pierre hotel; details inside


It was a night of flashy gowns and sarees at the 2024 edition of the All That Glitters Diwali Ball which has now become a thing in Hollywood circles. Held annually, founded by Anjula Acharia (socialite-entrepreneur), the Diwali Ball this year was held at the famous Pierre Hotel in New York City as people of the South Asian diaspora gathered to celebrate the Festival of Lights with peers. 

International stars in South Asian entertainment got together to dance, enjoy Indian delicacies and discuss art and culture as Diwali approaches.

The biggest of the stars descended as Canadian-Moroccan artist Nora Fatehi, who is currently based out of India, performed to a medley of her hit songs. Also spotted were high fashion designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Shane and Falguni of designer label Falguni Shane Peacock.

Celebrities from the entertainment world included Simone Ashley of the fame Bridgerton, Avantika Vandapanu of the fame Mean Girls 2024, Tan France, comedian Hasan Minhaj, singer Jay Sean, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan of the fame Never Have I Ever and Jessel Tank.

There were champagne towers, cocktails, South Asian flavours like tamarind and coconut in various delicacies and a lot more. The event also saw some great speeches as people shared their excitement about being invited to a Diwali celebration of this scale. Anjula Acharia, the event’s founder said, “I’m so happy to see faces, new and old, here tonight – your dreams, ambitions, hard work, and dedication make this community as strong as it is today. I’m so glad to honour you all.” Anjula happens to be Priyanka Chopra’s manager.

At the event, Avantika Vandapanu said, “Being Indian in America, somewhat rarely do we have moments like this where you’re truly with your community and peers in the arts as well. It just feels like an amalgamation of all the things I love.”

Then there was Indian superstar Nora Fatehi who first set the mood with her Indian songs and dance. She then pulled guests to join her on the dance floor.
